Although I began my pottery journey on the wheel, I found my true expression as a handbuilder. Both vessels and wall pieces function as “canvases” for my abstract art, where slips, underglazes, and oxides allow me to impart a painterly quality to my work. I am influenced by the quietness and asymmetry of traditional Japanese pottery and woodblock prints and by the minimalism of mid-twentieth century aesthetics. The quiet simplicity of my work leaves the viewer free to interpret mood or meaning. 

My work has been exhibited in local and nationally juried exhibitions and is found in collections in several states, including Georgia, Massachusetts, and Ohio.  Pieces are featured in 500 Vases, 2010; 500 Raku, 2011; and the invitational publication The Best of 500 Ceramics: Celebrating a Decade in Clay, 2012.
