I create text and body-based performances that are fundamentally shaped by the making and use of textiles. And, in turn, I create textiles meant to be experienced visually and durationally through live performances to an audience or recordings of text and sound presented for individual listening. The objects and performances operate together and are inseparable. And in this sense, my work is a hybrid of artistic genres, neither solely visual nor wholly performance-based.
In my practice, I seek to give significance to fleeting images, and capture and make present ephemeral things and encounters from the past. And, through text, textiles, installation and performance, my work generates immersive, textured experiences that draw attention to subtle details. Through looping and reiteration of gestures, words, and images, passing details are made into matter, to gathering importance through meditative repetition.
